Frederick Harold "Fred" Hasecuster, 96, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Waldron Health & Rehab.
Born February 13, 1930 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Ora Verl Hasecuster and Grace (Walton) Hasecuster. He married Bonnie Jean (Puckett) Hasecuster on October 28, 1953 and she preceded him in 2019.
Survivors include a daughter Debra Westermann (companion Steve Carwein) of Shelbyville; a granddaughter Dana Sipes (Aaron) of Columbus; 3 great grandchildren- Jonah Sipes, Isaac Sipes, and Daniel Sipes, all of Columbus. He was preceded
in death by his parents, his spouse, 13 siblings, son-in-law John W. Westermann, and grandson Douglas Westermann.
Mr. Hasecuster was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1948. He had been a supervisor at Chrysler Corp, for 30 years, retiring in 1983, and was also a self employed gunsmith for several years. He was
a member of Vine Street Methodist Church, Waldron Masonic Lodge #217, where he served as past master. He was a member of the National Benchrest Shooter's Association, IBS, American Legion Post #70, National Rifle Association, and a member of the the National Benchrest Shooter's Hall of Fame. He was a US Army National Guard veteran.
Fred enjoyed bass fishing, water skiing, working in his yard, and loved watching IU basketball, and Indianapolis Colts football.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with burial in Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service,
at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be observed at 12:45 pm right before the funeral service.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion memorial team.
