Edward Allen Jr.

Edward Allen Jr. was born on May 1, 1934, in Birmingham, Alabama to Ollie Mae and Edward Allen, who preceded him in death, along with wife Thelma Allen, sons Charles Allen(Irene), Kenneth Allen, and Jeffery Allen.

On November 2, 1954, Edward married the love of his life, Thelma Allen, in Greenville, Mississippi. From their union, several children were born. They were married for 71 years. They both moved to Illinois and raised their children on the Southside of Chicago. Edward served in the US Air Force for 4 years, and moved to Greenville, Mississippi where he owned a gas station for 6 years. Then, he moved his family to Chicago, IL where they were raised, and in the next 34 years he would retire from AT&T(Teletype). Upon retiring from AT&T, they moved to Indiana where he worked at United Technology for 10 years and retired from there. He enjoyed outdoor activities like yard work, fishing, carpentry, pottery, listening to the blues, family gatherings, and loved to welcome everyone with open arms who he met.

Sadly, on July 13, 2026, Edward Allen Jr departed this Earth with a quiet sweet spirit and entered the great eternal life of peace and Christ at the age of 92 years old, 2 months, and 12 days.

Edward leaves to cherish his loving family children Dianne McCane (George), Dudley Allen, Sheila Allen Johnson (Larry), Darryl Allen. Grandchildren Rhonda Louden Johnson (Steven), Felicia Louden, Kenisha Allen, Kenshawn Allen, Kenwann Allen, Ivan Allen, Chanel Allen, Alicia Allen, Saron Allen, Candice Bradley, Laquisha Allen, Jasmine Allen, Kennedy Hursey (Marshawn). Great – grandchildren Dominika Johnson, Brittney Louden, Steven Johnson Jr, Brandon Gardner, Eric Johnson, Brittany Johnson, Tony Allen (Lilly), Robyn Young, Kila Young, Alana Allen, 15 additional great grandchildren and 19 great – great grandchildren. He had a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of the life of Edward Allen Jr will be at 1:00 PM EST on Monday, July 27, 2026, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester, IN. Pastor Tony Pugh will officiate.

His family will greet friends from 11:00 AM EST until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Leiters Ford IOOF Cemetery.

The Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the United States Air Force will accord military honors at the graveside.
