Donna Hisey, 82, of Nyona Lake, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 5:13 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Miller’s Merry Manor of Logansport.
On March 21, 1944, Donna Arlene Hauser was born in Logansport to Omer and Wanda Boldry Hauser. Growing up she shared her childhood with an older brother, Dan. Proudly, she graduated with the Class of 1962 from North Caston High School. Achieving a life dream of becoming a nurse Donna continued her education at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette. She graduated with the distinction of Registered Nurse in 1966.
Donna and Gerald "Jerry" L. Hisey were married on February 22, 1969 in Fulton. They have shared 57 years of life's adventures. From their union came 4 wonderful children, a daughter and three sons. The family tree continued to grow with the blessings of four grandchildren.
As an RN, Donna worked at Woodlawn Hospital for six years and at the North Miami School Corporation for 32 years. Her memberships include the Macy Christian Church, Order of Easter Star #542 of Royal Center for over 60 years and the Nyona-South Mud Lake Conservancy Association. Donna and Jerry founded the Back Pack Program through the Macy Food Pantry for the North Miami students.
Listening to Christian and easy listening music was the best way to relax. Using her talents, she served by playing the organ and piano at her church. She also taught piano lessons to many youngsters over the years. Donna was an avid seamstress, sewing and making beautiful quilts with her mom for family and friends. Casting or using a flyrod, Donna liked to fish for blue gill.
The Hisey’s enjoyed traveling. In 2012, they went on a majestic Alaskan Cruise. Whale watching, seeing the glaciers and wildlife was a breathtaking experience. They also visited the heart of Hawaii, Oahu, seeing the fields on the golden pineapples. Walking the pristine beaches and the hidden gems of Maui allowed them to make many life long memories.
Donna is lovingly remembered by her husband Jerry, at home, daughter Brenda A. Weaver (Fred) of Macy; three sons, Brent A. Hisey, (Lana) of
Warsaw, Barry A. Hisey of Pierceton, Brad A. Hisey (Patience) of Kewanna; three grandchildren, Melody Hisey, Mason Hisey, Delany Hisey; brother-in-law, Charles Hisey of Macy, several nieces, nephews and cousins and the many students she served at the North Miami Schools.
Preceding Donna in death are her parents, granddaughter Evaney Hisey in June of 2022 and a brother Daniel O. Hauser.
celebration of the life of Donna Arlene Hisey RN will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 3, 2026. Her son, Pastor Brad A. Hisey will officiate.
Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2026 in the funeral home. Nurse Donna will be rememberd with the Nightengale Honors Service performed by the Nursing Honor Guard of Midwestern Indiana starting at 6:45 PM Thursday evening.
An Order of Eastern Star service will follow at 7PM.
Interment will be in the Plainview Cemetery of Macy.
