David M. Wagoner, 93, of Rochester, passed away at 9:00 AM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Wynnfield Crossing of Rochester.
On February 7, 1933, David Merrel Wagoner was born in Rochester to Merrel Dean and Mildred A. Craig Wagoner. Growing up, he shared his childhood with three sisters, Patricia, Janice and Betty Ann. David graduated with the Class of 1951 from Rochester High School. He played on the first RHS football team. He was also active with FFA and 4H.
David was a lifetime farmer. He farmed with his nephew Danny Zellers since 1976. David was an avid reader of newspapers and farm publications. David loved John Deere tractors and attended tractor pulls. He enjoyed eating out with his family. He enjoyed sitting in his favorite chair working crossword puzzles or playing a hand of euchre with friends.
Left to cherish David's memory are two sisters, Betty Ann Hassenplug of Bourbon, Janice Zellers of LaFontaine and several nieces and nephews including Dan and Donna Zellers of Rochester and great-nieces and nephews that include DeAnn Fetzer and Dustin Zellers who are continuing his farming legacy.
Preceding David in death are his parents, sister Patricia Egbert, brothers-in-law Adrian Egbert, Larry Zellers and Richard Hassenplug,
A celebration of David Wagoner will be at 12 Noon on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Rev. Rod Ruberg will officiate. Friends may visit the family from 10-12 on Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
