Brian A. Funk, 42, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family and friends when he passed away at Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne on Thursday evening, May 7, 2026.

A selfless hero, Brian was an organ donor helping others with a gift of life by donating his kidneys, liver and lungs. Present at the Honor Walk were his family and friends. Brian's sudden and unexpected passing was a result of a brain bleed.

On August 24, 1983, Brian Alan Funk was born at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. He was the second born son of Hugh and Rita Paulus Funk. Growing up he shared his childhood with an older brother Daniel. During his high school years at RHS he was a member of the Zebra tennis team and the band playing the trumpet. He graduated from Rochester High School with his class in 2002.

With a strong work ethic, Brian was a machinist for 11 years at Zimmer-Biomet in Warsaw. He was a member of Rochester's Grace Church. Brian was gifted with his hands and kept the family fleet running well, always able to neutralize any problem that arose. He also enjoyed attending car shows.

An outdoorsman, Brian enjoyed golf, fishing and frisbee golf. He also treasured the times spent with his nephew Jonah and teaching him the finer points of accomplishing success at the card table playing euchre.

Left to cherish Brian's memory are his mother Rita; brother Daniel Funk; nephew Jonah Eldred Funk; girlfriend Crystal Tuttle and her children Abbigayle Tuttle and Jaxon Tuttle all of Rochester; an uncle, Brent (Mary) Paulus; and two cousins, Amanda Paulus Huth and Andrew Paulus.

Welcoming Brian to the Heaven's with Jesus are his father Hugh M. Funk (December 27, 2022); grandparents Carry and Lucile Funk, Eldred "Bud" and Juanita Paulus; and many other extended family and friends.

A celebration of life for Brian A. Funk will be at 1:00 PM EDST, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester. Pastor Kurt Nichols will officiate.

Brian's family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of his service. Interment will follow at Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
