Betty Gertrude Quier, 91, Peru, and formerly of Nyona Lake

Betty Gertrude Quier, 91, Peru, and formerly of Nyona Lake, passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at home with her family by her side.

Born August 29, 1934, in Blue Island, Illinois, she was the daughter of Harry Anton Walters and Gladys Gertrude (Bell) Walters. In 1973, she married Walter David Quier, and he preceded her in death on November 20, 2012.

Betty was a devout Christian and had attended both the First Church of the Nazarene and the Independent Christian Fellowship in Peru. She loved to read her Bible and share her faith with others. She loved to sing in church, gardening, and crocheting.

Survivors include her children, Robert A. (Emma) White, Lagrange; William J. White, Seneca, Mo.; Laurie L. White Lanning, Peru; and Mark A. White, Peru; several step-children, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Leona Carole Oliba.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana.  Private burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Macy. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Betty would ask that a memorial contribution be given to the Salvation Army.
