A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Bernard Goodwin, 89 of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026.

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Bernard, 89 of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. He was born April 17, 1937, at home in Sumner, Illinois. He and Lois have resided in Owasso, Oklahoma for the past three and half years, having moved from Robinson, Illinois in 2023 to be to near to their son, Mark and family. He graduated from Sumner High School, Class of 1955. He married Lois Ann Dotson in 1956 and they are the parents of Mark Goodwin, Owasso, and the late Lynn Lee of Albion, Illinois.

Bernard, fondly know as “Bernie” to his friends, was a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge 334 of Sumner, The Valley of Danville Scottish Rite, as well as The Ainad Shrine in East St. Louis. While living in Robinson, Bernie was a member of the Crawford County Shrine Club, which he thoroughly enjoyed the Shrine BBQ every summer and loved his time with the motor patrol. When he moved to Oklahoma, he also became a member of the Akdar Shrine. While living in Owasso, one of the many highlights was to be able to take his grandkids and great-grands to the Akdar Shrine Circus in Tulsa. He started his career working along side his Dad, John Goodwin, with the Marathon Bulk Distribution in Sumner. The remainder of his career was spent working in the Marathon Lube Warehouse in Robinson.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of 69 years of Owasso; son Mark Goodwin and wife Penny of Owasso, Oklahoma; granddaughters Megan Specht (David) of Topeka, Kansas, Amanda (Nate) Cadwell of Owasso; grandson, Wade (Tiffany) Goodwin of Owasso, and seven great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister, Clara Mae (Larry) Markman and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Goodwin; daughter, Lynn Lee; and a great granddaughter.

A celebration of life service will be held at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois, on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till the service hour with Masonic Rites before the service. Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bernie’s honor to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, through the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.
