Belmont Eugene “Monte” Stiller, 87, of Winamac, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
He was born on January 5, 1939 in Monon, IN to the late Robert Belmont and Mabelle Frances (Bailey) Stiller. After graduating from Francesville High School in 1956, he enlisted in the US Navy. Monte served aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31) and received an honorable discharge on October 16, 1959. On April 2, 1960, he married the love of his life, Lois Ann Jenkins, at the Pulaski Presbyterian Church. During the early years of their marriage, Monte and Lois lived in Francesville where they raised three children. In 1984, Monte and Lois moved to the Jenkins family farm in rural Beaver Township where countless family gatherings were held and memories were made. In 2001, Monte retired from Chester, Inc. following a dedicated career as an electrician.
Monte was a member of the Francesville First Christian Church where he held several leadership positions over the years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. Monte and Lois enjoyed square dancing and playing cards with friends. He also enjoyed bowling, throwing horseshoes, fishing, woodworking, and doing puzzles. Years ago, he coached his son’s Little League Team, was active with Boy Scouts, and spoiled his daughter. Monte always supported his grandchildren and faithfully attended their school programs and sporting events.
Monte was a positive role model and father-figure to many. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed. Though he is gone from this world, we find comfort that Monte’s soul is at peace with his Lord and Savior.

Visitation will be from 4-8 PM EDT Monday, August 31, 2026 at Frain Mortuary in Francesville, IN.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM EDT Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Frain Mortuary in Francesville, IN with Minister Jeremy Glasford officiating.
Burial will take place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN. The American Legion will conduct Military Graveside Services.
