Public test of county's voting equipment is 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at the courthouse, where early voting begins Oct. 8.
Fulton County Clerk Dawn Ziemek announces that a public test of voting equipment is Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. in the courthouse.
Attendees will hear about the county's Hart InterCivic Verity Duo voting system from Governmental Business Systems' Dana Clark. GBS is the vendor for the voting equipment, which includes 41 voting units, 16 scanners, 15 controller units and 15 e-poll books.
The equipment came at no cost to the county, thanks to grant funds secured for the purchase.
Although only 10 percent of voting equipment is required to be tested in front of the public, Ziemek says Fulton County tests all of its equipment.
Ziemek also announces early voting hours and locations, as well as a meeting of the Fulton County Election Board, 4 p.m. Sept. 18 in the clerk's office at the courthouse.
Early voting for the general election begins Oct. 8 at the Fulton County Courthouse.
Hours are: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m.-3 p.m. two Saturdays, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2; and 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 4. The general election is Nov. 5, with polls open from 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
