Warsaw teen arrested on outstanding warrant following early morning traffic stop in Plymouth

A routine traffic stop for an equipment violation early Wednesday morning led to the arrest of a Warsaw teenager on an outstanding warrant.

At approximately 4:27 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1st, Officer Witkowski with the Plymouth Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on U.S. 30 near Michigan Street. According to police reports, the stop was conducted due to the vehicle having an inoperable headlight.

During the course of the traffic stop, officers identified the driver as 18-year-old Maricio S. Tochimani of Warsaw. A routine check revealed that Tochimani had an active arrest warrant out of neighboring Kosciusko County.

Tochimani was taken into custody at the scene. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he is currently being held pending transfer to Kosciusko County authorities to face his outstanding charges.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
