Just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sergeant Kyle Miller was patrolling in the area of County Road 200 East and County Road 1000 South in Lafontaine, to assist with locating David R. Odham, 45, from Wabash, who had active warrants out of Cass and Wabash Counties. Sergeant Miller located a 1996 Ford Ranger with the driver being identified as Odham.
Sergeant Miller, in his fully marked police car, activated his emergency lights and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver ignored the emergency lights, and a pursuit ensued traveling northbound on County Road 100 East near County Road 900 South.
The pursuit lasted several miles, with the Ford disregarding multiple stop signs. The pursuit continued off the roadway into a field near County Road 600 East and State Road 124. Sergeant Miller used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) with his police vehicle, causing the Ford to come to a stop.
Odham exited the Ford and fled the scene on foot, but was apprehended without incident shortly afterward.
A subsequent search of the Ford revealed suspected marijuana. He was transported to the Wabash County Jail.
