The City of Peru, Indiana is falling on national attention after releasing a five minute promotional documentary that features actor Dennis Quaid.
According to a press release by the City of Peru's Mayor's Office, the city took part in a short documentary produced by Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid to highlight the city's growth, local leadership, and community initiatives.
The idea first came to life when Peru Mayor Don Sturch reached out to producers at Viewpoint in March 2025. "Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid" is a Public Television program that provides viewers with insightful, short-form documentaries highlighting communities and businesses across the country.

The segment is distributed to over 170 Public Television stations nationwide and episodes often air on streaming services like Fubo, Hulu+ Live TV, Sling, and YouTube TV. You can also find featured segments on the Viewpoint Project's PTV Segments page.
Mayor Sturch said after months of collaboration and script development, filming for Viewpoint took place in Peru July 2025. The five-minute documentary puts a spot light on Peru's rich circus history and includes community stories from people among the area including Mayor Sturch, a local historian, a business owner, and resident, and a historian.
Mayor Sturch said in the press release, while the video captures several key aspects of Peru, editing and airtime constraints made them unable to include everything that makes Miami County city unique. The documentary was intended to serve as an introduction and invitation to learn more about what the community has to offer.
