On Thursday, June 12, at approximately 10:56 a.m., the Marshall County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call regarding a male in a bucket truck who had been electrocuted while installing a fiber optic cable on a utility pole. The person was unconscious. The caller stated they were eventually able to get the bucket lowered and the male onto the ground to start CPR until emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
Once emergency personnel arrived on 7th Road west of Union Road, they took over life-saving efforts. Eventually, a pulse was present, along with shallow breathing, and the male was then airlifted to a Chicago Hospital for continued treatment.
The victim suffered severe burns on his upper body.
Agencies responding to the emergency on Thursday included Plymouth Fire & EMS, Samaritan Air Ambulance, NIPSCO, and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
