House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) recently appointed State Rep. Beau Baird (R-Greencastle) as chair of the Indiana State Fair Commission Advisory Committee.
In this role, Baird will help guide the policies and initiatives that support the Indiana State Fair and its mission to showcase the state’s rich agricultural heritage, youth programs and community engagement.
“I am honored to be appointed as chair of the Indiana State Fair Commission Advisory Committee,” Baird said. “The Indiana State Fair is a cornerstone of our state’s agricultural tradition and economic growth. I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure its continued success and to support the farmers, businesses and communities that make it great.”
The Indiana State Fair Commission Advisory Committee plays a critical role in reviewing the policies and programs of both the Indiana State Fair Commission and the Indiana State Fair Board. The commission oversees the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, a 214-acre facility in Indianapolis that hosts the annual State Fair and numerous events throughout the year.
Baird, who also serves as chair of the House Environmental Affairs Committee, has long been a strong advocate for Indiana agriculture and rural communities. As a lifelong Hoosier and an active leader in state policy, he is committed to enhancing the Indiana State Fair’s impact and ensuring that it remains a premier event for families, exhibitors and visitors alike.
The Indiana State Fair, established in 1852, is one of the nation’s longest-running state fairs. Each year, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors and features livestock exhibitions, 4-H competitions, entertainment and educational programming that highlight Indiana’s agricultural and cultural heritage.
