Ryobi Die Casting (USA) Inc. was granted a 10-year tax abatement Monday by the Shelbyville Common Council on a $23 million investment in new manufacturing equipment.
Ryobi is installing two new die cast machines, a melt furnace, new machining centers and assembly machines. Each machine will require its own production line.
The total investment for the Shelbyville company that produces state-of-the-art cast aluminum parts for the automotive industry is $23,765,914.
The installation project on site at 800 W. Mausoleum Road is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026 and add an additional 26 employees with an average hourly pay rate of $24.68 to Ryobi’s roster.
The addition of new production lines continues Ryobi’s growing trend. In 2022, the company had 688 employees. In January of 2025, that number was 940 employees.
In the tax abatement contract with the City of Shelbyville, Ryobi will repay the city the pro-rate amount of taxes paid over the life of the tax abatement should the company cease operations in Shelbyville or transfers abated personal property to another operation without replacement or like-kind investment in the Shelbyville facility.
