Shelby County lawmakers want Hoosiers to take legislative survey ahead of 2025 session

With the next legislative session quickly approaching, local lawmakers encourage Hoosiers to take their online surveys and offer feedback on important issues.

To start, Hoosiers should visit their state representative's webpage and click on the "Take My Survey" button.

Shelby County representatives' webpages include:

• State Rep. Jennifer Meltzer (R-Shelbyville), House District 73, in.gov/h73;
• State Rep. Robb Greene (R-Shelbyville), House District 47, in.gov/h47;  or
• State Rep. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown), House District 54, in.gov/h54.

"Having an open line of communication between lawmakers and constituents is key to helping our communities succeed," Meltzer said. "I hope to hear from Hoosiers in my district so I can best represent them in the upcoming session."

To complete online surveys, Hoosiers must be a resident of the district and submit it by the Dec. 31 deadline. Constituents can check which House district they reside in by visiting the Indiana General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov, clicking on "Find Your Legislator" on the homepage and entering a home address. Constituents can also expect to receive or may have already received a copy of their state representative's survey mailer in their mailbox.

"Open dialogue is key to keeping the government by the people, for the people," Greene said. "By participating in this survey, Hoosiers can share their thoughts and opinions directly with me so I can bring these pressing topics to the Statehouse."

The 2025 legislative session begins Jan. 8 and must conclude by April 29. Hoosiers can follow session proceedings at iga.in.gov, where they can find information on proposed legislation and watch livestreams of committee hearings and session.

"The next legislative session will reflect the current needs and priorities of Hoosiers," Criswell said. "I want to make sure that I’m focusing on issues that directly impact your lives. Your feedback through this survey will play a critical role in shaping our work during the upcoming session."
