Serious injuries sustained by a person as Parke County deputies were actively searching for a person they were concerned would do self-harm.
Parke County deputies report they investigated a report of a person driving around the area, wanting to do self harm. Just before 6:30 p.m., deputies located this person’s vehicle parked near the Thorpe Ford covered bridge, which is referred to as the “twin bridges”, north of Rosedale. At 6:40 p.m., deputies located the individual with an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound.
The individual was transported from the scene and flown to Methodist Hospital. At last report, the person was in critical condition.
The Rosedale Fire Department and Parke County EMS assisted at the scene.
The Parke County Sheriff's Department stated in the press release that their thoughts and prayers are with the person, amily, friends and the personnel involved in this incident.
