Rockville man arrested after setting fires

A Rockville man is behind bars after intentionally setting two fires in Rockville on Monday.

According to Rockville Police Chief William McMichael, Ezekiel Kyler Tapp, 20, Rockville, set a fire in a trash can at Burger King, as well as the Visitor's Center.

An officer first responded to Burger King regarding a reported fire. Upon arrival, police determined someone had intentionally set a fire in a trash can inside the restroom. Surveillance footage showed Tapp entering and exiting the restroom around the time of the incident while patrons were inside.

While investigating the Burger King fire, officers were notified of another fire at the Visitor's Center. Another investigation determined Tapp was responsible for that fire as well, prompting police to arrest him.

Tapp told police he set the fires and did so "out of boredom." Police transported Tapp to the Parke County Jail on two counts of arson, a Level 4 felony. Court records show Tapp has an initial hearing set for Sept. 3 at the Parke County Courthouse. Court records did not list bond information.
