Purdue Extension invites landowners, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone interested in pond management to attend an informative Pond Clinic on Wednesday, May 15, at 5 p.m. at the Palmer Center for Aquatic Resources, 6718 E Winona Ave, in Knox.
Ponds offer numerous benefits, from recreational fishing opportunities to supporting local ecosystems. However, maintaining a healthy and productive pond doesn't happen by accident, it requires thoughtful planning and consistent management. Without proper care, ponds can quickly become overrun with unwanted vegetation or overcrowded with small, underdeveloped fish.
At the clinic, Purdue Extension specialists will demonstrate techniques for assessing fish populations and share best practices for managing pond ecosystems. Attendees will learn how to evaluate fish health, balance species, and take proactive steps to enhance pond quality and productivity.
