The Pulaski County Board of Commissioners announced they are seeking public input on the future use of several county-owned facilities.
Officials said they are looking for recommendations regarding the best use of county-owned buildings and the locations of county departments. The county is focusing on facilities that have not undergone significant recent upgrades.
In the announcement, officials the former school building on Riverside Drive in Winamac that is currently being used as the east annex building is being considered a priority. The building is said to have multiple issues, including accessibility obstacles and also currently houses the Pulaski County Health Department and Extension Office, making the issues a significant problem.
Officials stated the county is prioritizing relocating those departments to new locations to provide safer and more comfortable work environments while improving public service.
The Arens Field Airport, Pulaski County Highway Department on State Rd 35, the west annex on Main and Franklin St, which houses the Emergency Management Agency and Coroner’s Office, the Soil and Water office and the EMS base and the Winamac Recycling Center are also being included in the discussion.
The county plans to discuss the topic during August's County Commissioner’s meetings. Residents are encouraged to provide public comment during those meetings.
