The Illinois State Police (ISP) is reminding Lawrence County teens and others across the area to celebrate the upcoming prom and graduations seasons responsibly. Last year, there were over 840 high school aged teens 15 to 17 years of age injured in crashes during the prom and graduation season from April 16th through May 31st. The leading causes for those accidents were Speeding, Distracted Driving, Improper Seatbelt Usage and Impaired Driving. Illinois is a zero-tolerance state in regard to underage drinking and the ISP will be conducting high visibility patrols enforcing those violations and others.
