The Plymouth community is invited to rally behind local students as Plymouth Robotics hosts a special Community Night fundraiser on Monday, April 13, to support three teams heading to the VEX Robotics World Championship.
The family-friendly event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lincoln Junior High School. Attendees can look forward to an evening featuring local food trucks, raffle baskets, and live robot demonstrations showcasing the impressive engineering skills that earned these students a spot on the global stage.
The fundraiser aims to help offset the significant costs associated with competing at the World Championship. Organizers note that travel, lodging, and competition expenses add up quickly, and every donation makes a difference in making this dream a reality for the students.
Three teams from the Plymouth school district have qualified for the prestigious international competition:
Plymouth High School Team 586E "Easy Breezy" includes students: Freddie Kallenberg, Cora Hanes, Wyatt Houin, and Chance Miller
Lincoln Junior High School is sending two teams, Team 587V "Vulcanoes" with members Bear Kallenberg and Brayden Mabie, and Team 587Z "Zingbots" with students Hayden Barnhart, Lucy Hamand, Sydney Morrison, and Carter Richards
For those unable to attend the Community Night in person, donations are still being gratefully accepted. Checks can be mailed or dropped off at either Plymouth High School or Lincoln Junior High School. Supporters are asked to write "Worlds" in the memo line to ensure the funds are directed specifically to the robotics teams' travel expenses.
