Members of the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission received quick updates on activities in three of the city’s Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) Districts Tuesday evening.
Plymouth City Attorney Jeff Houin discussed the Hoham Drive project in TIF District # 1 on the city’s north side. While the street is open the project is not officially complete. There are a few punch list items left to complete, and the contractor is still waiting on the light pole arm for the stoplights. Drivers are reminded that the intersection is still a 3-way stop until the light signals are back in place.
Houin had a meeting this week with Kevin Berger, the developer for the Water Street Townhomes project in TIF District # 2 which is the downtown area, and representatives from the South Bend Regional Partnership about the READI 1.0 grant paperwork. Supplies for the upcoming residential construction project are being received and it is anticipated that a groundbreaking will be happening in the next few weeks.
The city hasn’t heard from the developer of the Centennial Crossing Project in TIF District #6 on the city’s north side. The city’s Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson is anxious to complete this project and have the infrastructure dedicated to the city. There was some turnover at the engineering firm the developer used to do all the design work which has delayed the as-built drawings being submitted to the city’s utility department.
The final item the city engineer mentions was in TIF District #3 and that was the Redevelopment Commission’s agreement last month to help with the required public funding of the Career Innovation Center. Houin is working with Lisa Lee from Ice Miller to prepare a resolution the commission will need to approve, hopefully at their September meeting.
