Patrolmen with the Plymouth Police Department successfully served two active warrants during separate incidents earlier this week, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.
The first arrest occurred on the afternoon of Monday, March 9. At approximately 5:00 p.m., Officer Thornton responded to an apartment located at 1804 West Jefferson Street in an attempt to locate a woman wanted by authorities. Upon arrival, the officer located 37-year-old Maria Del Sagrario Torres inside her residence.
Torres was taken into custody on active warrants for failure to appear in court regarding three separate charges of operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license. She was subsequently transported and lodged in the Marshall County Jail.
In a separate incident early Tuesday morning, March 10, Plymouth Police made a second warrant arrest. At approximately 12:10 a.m., Officer Allen located 21-year-old Anthony Neeson of Goshen at the north basketball courts in Centennial Park. Neeson was found in the park after its posted hours of operation.
While speaking with Neeson, officers discovered that he had an active, outstanding warrant out of Elkhart County. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he is being held on behalf of Elkhart County authorities.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. All suspects are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
