Tuesday evening, during their monthly meeting, the Plymouth Park Board approved several requests.
Joanna King was granted free use of the Young Amphitheater on June 20, 2026, for the 2nd Annual Courage for Carter 5K. King said the amphitheater was an ideal location for their first event, and they were very pleased to raise $11,355.30 to find a cure for pediatric brain cancer. She said three kids in Marshall County have passed away from this rare brain tumor.
The next request was from Kayla Pittman. She was granted the donation of a family pool pass to be used for her fundraising efforts for the Down Syndrome Awareness Walk on October 5th at the Freyman Shelter in Centennial Park. Participants will have the option of a 1-mile fun run or a 5K race. Funds raised from the event will be used to purchase items needed by school therapists in the Plymouth, Argos, and Triton school systems.
Morry Riddle is with the Marshall County Running Club and requested free use of the Freyman Shelter on Sunday, October 26th, for a Reaper Run event. The event is from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the community and designed to promote health, fitness, and seasonal fun.
Another run/walk event taking place before the end of the year was also granted free use of the Freyman Shelter. On November 1st, from 7 a.m. to noon, the Marshall County Neighborhood Center will host their annual Gobble Wobble run/walk. This event is a fundraiser intended to provide support for local families during the holiday season. Each year, approximately 150 households receive Thanksgiving meals, and about 250 households receive assistance at Christmas.
