The Plymouth Park Board officially approved its annual agreement with the Plymouth Farmers Market during its meeting on Monday, paving the way for the popular weekend event to return to the downtown area this spring.
Under the approved agreement, the Farmers Market will operate from May through October at River Park Square. The market will be granted exclusive use of the park space located east of Water Street, extending to the horseshoe parking area and encompassing all areas in between.
This year's market is scheduled to open for the season on Saturday, May 9th. Vendors will be set up every Saturday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with the season running through mid-October.
In exchange for the exclusive use of the downtown park area, the Plymouth Farmers Market will pay the City of Plymouth 10 percent of its total booth rental income.
Additionally, the agreement outlines strict liability requirements. The market is required to maintain liability insurance in an amount deemed satisfactory by the city. Organizers must also provide a certificate of insurance that officially lists the City of Plymouth as an additional insured party.
In 2025, the Park Non-Reverting Operating Fund received a total of $999.00 in monthly rent payments from the Farmer's Market.
According to the city ordinance, revenue received into this fund shall be used to pay salaries and related expenses incurred for the recreational programs developed by the Park Department
