Plymouth man arrested for obstruction of traffic after walking in roadway

A Plymouth man was arrested Thursday afternoon after repeatedly walking into traffic, causing vehicles to stop on State Road 17.

On Thursday, August 20th, just after 3:00 p.m., Plymouth Police received a call about a male jumping in and out of the roadway with traffic passing by near 1920 West Lake Avenue. Officer Allen located the suspect, 41-year-old Jorden McCoige of Nursery Street in Plymouth, near State Road 17 and Meadow Lane.

The officer spoke with McCoige and made it clear that he was to stay out of the roadway and stop walking out into traffic. However, shortly after the warning, McCoige was observed on State Road 17 at Kenwood Avenue walking in the middle of the roadway, causing traffic to stop and making no attempt to get out of the way.

Officer Allen took McCoige into custody and transported him to the Marshall County Jail for obstruction of traffic. He was assigned a court date and held on a $250 cash bond.
