A Plymouth man was arrested Thursday afternoon after a traffic stop revealed he had never obtained a driver's license.
At 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Patrolman Thornton with the Plymouth Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Water and Garro streets in downtown Plymouth. The stop was prompted by the vehicle's registration being expired and suspended.
While speaking with the driver, it was determined that he had never obtained a license. The driver was identified as Gary Mauricio Alvarez Cespedes, 47, of Seventh Street in Plymouth.
Cespedes was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on a charge of operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
