A 24-year-old Osceola woman was arrested Friday afternoon after her vehicle ran off the road and struck a fence, and a chemical test later revealed her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
Marshall County Sheriff's Deputy Blake Bennett was dispatched at approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 12, following a report of an impaired or unsafe driver in the area of Lincoln Highway and King Road. While deputies were in route, the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a fence.
Upon arrival, the deputy identified the driver as Olivia Varney, 24, of Osceola. Varney was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and was transported to Plymouth Hospital for a chemical test. The results confirmed she was operating the vehicle at more than twice the legal alcohol limit.
Varney was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person, and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent of .15 or more. She was held on a $1,500 cash bond.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Bourbon Police Department.
