In the midst of a transition for the emergency services, on December 23rd, members of the North Township Advisory Board unanimously passed a resolution recognizing and acknowledging the dedication, commitment, compassion, professionalism, and sacrifice of our community emergency services volunteers have provided to the Town of LaPaz and North Township over the past 50 years.
The North Township Advisory Board members are Steven Davenport, President; Stephen Barber, Secretary; and Carmen Megonnell as the member.
The resolution that was approved follows:
Whereas the Union-North Ambulance Service and the LaPaz-North Township Fire Department have provided emergency services to this community for over 50 years;
Whereas the Union-North Ambulance Service and the LaPaz-North Township Fire Department volunteers have saved lives, shortened recovery time and/or the return of optimal functioning for sick and injured members of our community as well as visitors, attended to distraught, grieving, and traumatized victims and family members;
Whereas the Union-North Ambulance Service and the LaPaz-North Township Fire Department volunteers have mitigated losses to property, flora, and fauna;
Whereas the Union-North Ambulance Service and the LaPaz-North Township Fire Department volunteers do so at great personal sacrifice of sleep/rest, family time and meals together, work productivity, and (as we in Marshall County are well aware of) the risk of personal injury including loss of life;
Whereas the family members of the Union-North Ambulance Service and the LaPaz-North Township Fire Department volunteers support their loved ones and community at great personal sacrifice, the breadth of which we will never know;
Whereas many in our community go about our lives with little thought of their sacrifice;
Whereas emergency services for North Township and LaPaz is in the midst of a transition and it is now an appropriate time to pay tribute to the volunteers who have served this community – past, present, and future;
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the North Township Advisory Board, as representatives of our community and in their place, recognize and acknowledge the dedication, commitment, compassion, professionalism, and sacrifice of our community emergency services volunteers. We owe you a debt we cannot pay and express to you our deepest gratitude.
Very Sincerely,
North Township Advisory Board
