No new threats against Putnam County schools

Putnam County Sheriff's Department Sunday said there were no new social media threats to area schools.

A little less than a week removed from online threats that sent worry through Putnam County, local law officials say there are no new threats heading into this school week.

In an online post, the Putnam County Sheriff's Department Sunday said there were no new social media threats to area schools. 

"As of this evening, all social media threats and or informational posts about school threats have been investigated by area law enforcement. We have found no substantiated threats to our schools. All investigations are current, with no new investigations started since last week," the post states. 

Sheriff Jarrod Baugh told GIANT fm last week that his department was involved with three investigations and reports will be forwarded to the Prosecutor's office for review and, potential, formal charges. 

"We continue to work with area schools and law enforcement agencies to provide safety to our kids and school faculty each day," the post continued. 

The Greencastle Police Department has confirmed it will continue to have a presence at all Greencastle schools not only Monday, but for the remainder of the school year. 

Local law enforcement ask that should someone have any information on the prior threats, they should contact law enforcement officials.
