A 57-year-old Niles, Michigan man died Saturday morning when his vehicle pulled out in front of a semi-tractor-trailer at the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 10.
Christopher J. Jankoviak was pronounced dead at the scene by Marshall County Deputy Coroner John Lampkins following the 7:55 a.m. crash.
According to the Marshall County Coroner's Office, Jankoviak was driving a Chevy Equinox westbound on State Road 10 when the vehicle entered the path of a northbound semi-tractor-trailer on U.S. 31. The Equinox was struck on the driver's side.
A passenger in Jankoviak's vehicle was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. The condition of the passenger was not immediately available.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash and will release additional details regarding the circumstances of the accident and information about the semi-truck driver.
