A man was killed when he crashed a motorcycle while fleeing from Greenfield Police.
Just before 9 p.m. Wednesday a Greenfield Police officer activated emergency lights after observing traffic violations by a man on a motorcycle. The rider failed to stop and a pursuit began near the intersection of State Street and New Road.
The pursuit continued at a high rate of speed on State Road 9 into Madison County, turning northbound onto State Road 67. Just north of Pendleton, the motorcycle attempted to pass between two vehicles and collided with both. The rider was then thrown from the motorcycle into the ditch and the motorcycle became engulfed in flames.
The rider was declared dead at the scene. No name has been released as of this report.
