As of Oct. 15, there are still 21 Indiana counties that have burn bans in effect due to ongoing dry and windy weather conditions over the past several weeks that have put the areas at an increased risk of fire.

Among those nearby on the list, county officials in Fulton, Pulaski, Miami, Wabash, Cass and Jasper counties are still asking residents to refrain from any outdoor burning activities that include burning of debris, vegetation, or any other open burning of any kind that use conventional fuel such as wood or other combustible materials. Campfires and other recreational fires are also restricted unless enclosed and supervised.

In addition, county officials also strongly encourage residents to refrain from using firework devices.

For more information on the burn ban you can visit the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's Open Burning webpage for details.
