Mix of familiar and new faces earn wins in Putnam County Primary

Voters will see a mix of new and familiar faces in the November general election following the results of Tuesday's Republican Primary election.

Political newcomer Andy Fidler, who got involved in local politics during the recent solar farm discussions in the Cloverdale area, knocked off incumbent Brian Berry for the District 4 County Council seat. Fidler earned 518 votes or 58.66 percent, while Berry was held to 365 votes or 41.34 percent of the vote.

Fidler took to social media to thank his supporters.

"Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this campaign. I am truly grateful for the encouragement, conversations, and time so many of you invested along the way. I appreciate the trust placed in me, and I look forward to serving and doing my best to represent our community well. This journey has been humbling, and I am thankful for the opportunity to move forward together," Fidler said.

In the Putnam County Council District 3 race, incumbent Danny Wallace held off challenges from Kevin Rief and Joseph Myers to secure a spot in the general election.

Wallace earned 377 votes or 59.09 percent, while Myers earned 194 or 30.41 percent and Rief earned 67 votes or 10.5 percent.

Jay Alcorn ran unopposed in the District 2 race, while Wayne Huffman was unopposed in the District 1 race.
