A Marshall County man was arrested on drug charges Saturday night following a traffic stop conducted by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
On October 24, at 10:11 p.m., Sheriff's Detective Sergeant Ryan Hollopeter conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. An investigation that developed from the stop established probable cause for criminal charges, according to a news release from the department.
The driver, 36-year-old James Anthony McMichael Jr. of the 3,000 block of Michigan Road in Plymouth, was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail.
McMichael faces three charges: possession of methamphetamine as a level 3 felony, possession of a hypodermic needle as a level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia as a class C misdemeanor
He was held on a $4,000 cash-only bond.
The Plymouth Police Department assisted with the investigation.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
