The Marshall County Board of Commissioners will have a full slate of business when they convene Monday, June 15, beginning with a closed-door executive session before their regular public meeting and wrapping up with a second executive session afterward.
Commissioners will open the morning in executive session at 8:15 a.m. in Room 205 of the County Building, 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth. That session is scheduled to receive information and consider applications under Indiana Code 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(10)(B).
A second executive session is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. — or immediately following the regular meeting — in the same room. The purpose of that closed session will be to discuss personnel performance matters pursuant to IC 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(9). Both sessions are closed to the public per state statute.
Sandwiched between the executive sessions, the commissioners' regular public meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed live on the county's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@MarshallCountyIN.
The agenda opens and closes with opportunities for public comment on agenda items.
County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters leads off the substantive agenda with a report that includes presenting a consulting contract with USI for Bridge 2540 on N. Michigan Road in LaPaz. Peters will also bring forward a joint resolution for the transfer of personal property and seek ratification of a new vehicle purchase order.
Commissioners will consider an ordinance amending the county's Zoning ordinance to add a definition of "Agrivoltaics" to the solar energy section — a move that reflects growing interest in combining agricultural land use with solar energy production.
The board will receive its quarterly update from the Marshall County Museum and hear a request from the American Legion regarding flags. The CASA Director will seek approval to apply for a matching grant, and the County Assessor will request an appointment to the Property Tax Board of Appeals.
To close the meeting, commissioners are expected to appoint a new director for Weights & Measures.
The County Building is located at 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
