Knox County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a single vehicle accident in the area of South 6th Street Road and Williams Road just after midnight on Tuesday where a vehicle crashed into a utility pole.
Deputies located the driver, 34-year-old Jeffery Jackson and a passenger, 47-year-old Jeremy Scott. According to deputies, Scott showed signs of impairment and appeared to be restless and fidgety. Following a search, deputies revealed that they found illegal drugs and prescription medication. Scott claimed ownership of the illegal items to authorities. Deputies later identified the presciption to be Gabapentin. Deputies also located a pipe used for smoking illegal drugs, and two hypodermic syringes, with one of them fully loaded with a clear liquid that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Scott faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug, Illegal possession of a hypodermic needle, and possession of drug paraphilia.
Jackson was found not to be impaired and was not injured in the crash. Police released Jackson from the crash scene after the investigation was completed.
