It was determined that the shooting had taken place in a nearby residence located at 61 W. County Line Road, Greenwood.
Police in Greenwood are investigating an early morning shooting.
The Greenwood Police Department responded to the area of West County Line Road and Meridian Street, on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 35-year-old Greenwood resident, later identified as Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson had sustained several non-life-threatening gunshots to his leg and arm.
Jefferson was then taken by ambulance to Methodist Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.
It was determined that the shooting had taken place in a nearby residence located at 61 W. County Line Road, Greenwood. Officers spoke with the person responsible for shooting Jefferson, who was identified as Randell Emberton, 59. Emberton resides at 61 W. County Line Rd and it was
established that he and Jefferson were well-acquainted.
Emberton was taken into custody by Greenwood detectives and is currently at the Greenwood Police Department being questioned.
The Greenwood Police Department reports that the case is currently ongoing and fluid. Greenwood Detectives are working closely with the Johnson County Prosecutor's Office to determine if and what charges may be filed in the future.
