A Plymouth man was recently arrested after allegedly battering his estranged wife.
According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies with the Fulton County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to 692 S 50 E, near Rochester, just before 6 p.m. on May 21 in regards to a domestic fight that became physical. The female caller stated she received injuries after being shoved by her estranged husband.
When deputies arrived on scene the female further explained to officers that she drove to the property to speak with a friend and was friends with the property owners son. When she arrived at the home she discovered her estranged husband, Jacob T. Rachiele, 29, of Plymouth, at the residence. The victim stated when she attempted to go into the barn at the property, Rachiele and her began fighting and he pushed her to the ground. The victim stated she blacked out after falling, but awoke seconds later laying on her back in the driveway.
As the woman tried to orientate herself, she said a friend came out of the barn to her aid. The victim stated as she attempted to call 911, she observed Rachiele shove her friend and threatened him multiple times that "he would kill him if he told police what had happened." it was noted, despite the threats from Rachiele, the friend had been in the barn during the incident and did not witness the victim being shoved to the ground.
The deputy on scene observed a hematoma on the back of the victims head that was still wet and bloody. The deputy further noted the woman also had scratches on her back.
When officers spoke with Rachiele he denied allegations of any physical altercation, telling the deputy, "I don't know what you're talking about. She's crazy, bro."
When the deputy spoke with the friend at the scene, the friend displayed clear signs of nervousness and was visibly shaking. When speaking to officers the deputy also noted his voice was trembling. The friend of the victim denied witnessing the victim being injured. He did state he heard yelling before the alleged incident, saying they both had been "yelling and screaming," but that he had been in the barn and was unsure what happened. When the friend came outside to see what was going on the victim was seen laying on the ground.
The deputy then asked Rachiele if the woman had also struck him, to which Rachiele replied, "No, and even if she did I wouldn't tell you."
The victim eventually requested an ambulance to check out her injuries. Emergency Medical Personnel advised the officer about the injuries he had previously observed and also informed the deputy of several other injuries that had not been noticed. The EMS stated the skin was red in color and consistent with a fresh injury that would have to recently occur. The paramedic also expressed concern about the victim's elevated heart rate, however, the woman signed a refusal to be transported to a hospital.
It was further noted Rachiele had a previous conviction for battery resulting in serious bodily injury from 2017 and that Rachiele was currently out on parole.
Rachiele was arrested at the scene and booked at the Fulton County Detention Center on Domestic Battery, a Level 5 Felony.
