Patriot Rail notified Plymouth City Councilman Don Ecker on Tuesday of their plan to finally make the promised improvement to the railroad crossing on Lake Avenue/State Road.
The railroad crossing closed at 7 a.m. Friday and is only scheduled to be closed for 24 hours.
ISB Flagging will handle all flagging duties and place all detour signage.
Patriot Rail will resurface and repair both railroad track crossings and the adjacent sidewalks.
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) requires the detour route to be on all state roads since the closure impacts State Road 17. Detour signs will be placed accordingly.
Councilman Ecker said local drivers can use alternative detour routes, but asks drivers to avoid adding unnecessary traffic in residential areas if possible.
