Initial report of possible plane crash prove untrue; no injuries in Wednesday incident

Concerns of a possible plane crash prompted several first responders to take action Wednesday.

Just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Lyford Fire Department was dispatched to the 10000 block of South U.S. 41 for a report of a possible small aircraft crash. The Lyford Fire Department responded along with the Parke County Sheriff's Office, Parke County EMS, mutual aid departments from Rosedale, Rockville, and Otter Creek, as well as several other law enforcement agencies. An outstanding job was done by the Parke County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center in coordinating communications and resources throughout the incident.

After an extensive investigation, it was determined that the reported aircraft was a crop-dusting plane operating in the area and that no crash had occurred.

All responding agencies were clear of the scene by 1:15 p.m.
