Indiana residents can fish public waters license-free this weekend as the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) kicks off one of its remaining 2026 Free Fishing Days on June 6 and 7.
No fishing license or trout/salmon stamp is required for residents on these designated days, making it a great opportunity for beginners to try the sport or for seasoned anglers to bring a friend. All other state fishing regulations — including bag limits, size restrictions, and seasonal rules — remain in effect.
Those who want to keep fishing beyond the free days can purchase a 2026 annual license, valid through March 31, 2027, at GoOutdoorsIN.com. License sales fund fish stocking, habitat restoration, and water quality projects across the state.
