Wednesday is Shelby County Day at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
The racing card begins at 2:10 p.m. and will be a focal point of simulcast racing across the country.
Horseshoe Indianapolis will spotlight area groups and businesses including Boys & Girls Club of Shelby County, Girls, Inc., Shelbyville Parks and Recreation, Cancer Association of Shelby County, Echo Effect, Blue River Community Foundation, and SCUFFY.
Horseshoe Indianapolis provides community donations of more than $525,000 annually with 85% of that funding staying in Shelby County.
There is no admission for this family friendly event and parking is free at the facility.

“Shelby County is near and dear to my heart … and Shelbyville. I’ve grown up in the county and in the city,” said Horseshoe Indianapolis Shift Manager for Racing Security Tim DeWitt. “It is home for me. And it is home for a large part of the team members of Horseshoe Indianapolis.
“It is now home for a large part of the horsemen that race at Horseshoe Indianapolis on a daily basis. Some call Shelby County home because we have 123 days of racing, so it’s allowed them to set down some roots and stay in one place.”
While watching the expected 9-race card, individuals can compete for free in the $2,500 Shelby County Legends handicapping contest with the top six sharing the prize money (first place wins $1,000).
Giant FM (WSVX) will broadcast live from Horseshoe Indianapolis from 3 to 5 p.m.
Kit Haymond will be performing on the Awning Stage from 3 to 5 p.m.
There also will be free facepainting, food trucks, winner’s circle giveaways and more.
“We would love for you to come out and experience the track,” said DeWitt. “We feel we put on a world class show every day. We would love to let everyone see that on Shelby County Day.”
