The 1st United Methodist Church in downtown Plymouth is hosting a fundraising dinner and silent auction this Saturday, September 19th, to benefit Spencer Goebel, a Plymouth High School student who was severely injured in a single-vehicle auto accident on July 26th.
Following the accident, Goebel was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend before being transferred to a hospital in Indianapolis, where he spent a month receiving treatment. He was released and returned home on August 29th. While he is now home, Goebel still faces a long road ahead in his recovery.
The community is coming together to support him. The church will hold a drive-thru or dine-in chicken and noodle dinner featuring mashed potatoes, green beans, a dinner roll, beverage, and dessert prepared by Bob’s Cafeteria. The dinner runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Plymouth Columbus Club, located at 604 Columbus Drive, between Martin's Supermarket and Oliver Ford.
The silent auction will be open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and features more than a dozen items available for bidding.
Tickets for the dinner are $20 each and may be purchased in advance at 1st United Methodist Church, 400 North Michigan Street, Re/Max Oak Crest Realty, 507 East Jefferson Street; and Marshall County Museum, 123 North Michigan Street, downtown Plymouth.
