Our Community Foundation recently awarded a $12,700 grant to the Freelandville Methodist Church.
The Brooks Harting Freelandville Methodist Church Endowment Fund, a designated fund held by Our Community Foundation, made this grant possible.
According to Joe Singleton, a member of Our Community Foundation's Board, it was important to Harting to give back to his hometown. Although he spent most of his adult life outside the state, Freelandville was always home. Both his parents and Brooks himself had a long history of worshiping at the Methodist Church. He wanted to ensure the church had an additional, steady, consistent source of funding after his death, so the church could remain part of the community for future generations.
