The National Weather Service (NWS) has announced that the Flood Warning for the Embarras River at Lawrenceville will remain in effect until late Wednesday.
The river Monday morning was measured at 32.84 feet-up two-tenths of a foot from Sunday and almost 3 feet above its 30-foot flood stage. There is some minor flooding occurring along the river at Lawrenceville. At 33 feet, Kellys Lake Road (CR 1160N) north of Lawrenceville is inundated.
The river is now forecast to crest at around 33 feet on Wednesday and begin a steady fall to below flood stage later in the week. Authorities remind motorists to not attempt to drive through flood waters. Knox County (Indiana) emergency rescue personnel were called out Monday to rescue a woman trapped on top of her car after an attempt to travel through flood waters on Indiana State Road 358 near Edwardsport.
