Shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday, detectives from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division at the Peru Post initiated an investigation at the request of the Miami Correctional Facility into the death of inmate
The inmate has been identified as David R. Eggert, 23. Investigators are being assisted by the Miami County Coroner’s Office and Miami Correctional Facility Investigators.
An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
Indiana State Police say this is an active and ongoing investigation.
