A juvenile has been arrested in connection with at least one of two recent car thefts in Culver.
According to the Culver Police Department, the investigation began just before 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 12, after a report was made about a vehicle that had been stolen from a home on College Ave in Culver and eventually returned with significant body damage.
On Aug. 16, just after 8 a.m. another report of a stolen vehicle from E. Jefferson St was made. The second stolen vehicle was discovered outside of the Culver area within minutes of officers responding and beginning an investigation with an Indiana State Crime Scene Technician.
Around 7 p.m. on Aug. 16, a Culver police officer noticed a 17-year-old boy walking on Madison St who had been suspected of being involved in a previous unrelated crime. When the juvenile saw the officer he ran, kicking off a pursuit that ended 20 minutes later on Jefferson St.
Once detained authorities discovered the juvenile to be in possession of an item that connected him with one of the recent auto thefts. The minor was eventually taken to a juvenile facility where he is being held while pending review by the Marshall County Prosecutor's Office.
