The Crawford County Sheriff's office released the following information related to an investigation into one of its deputies:
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office announced that Deputy Ian Kasemyer, almost a two-year veteran of the department, has been placed on administrative leave, pending a full investigation into the deputy’s on-duty action.
The investigation was initiated following a video that was shared on social media on October 5.
• Transparency and accountability are of the utmost importance to this office. This administrative leave is a standard procedure that allows for a thorough and unbiased investigation into the matter.
• The leave is a neutral action and does not indicate a determination of guilt or wrongdoing.
• The deputy’s service weapon and badge have been confiscated during the investigation, which our patrol sergeant handled.
• No further information can be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation and the rights of all involved parties
